BB extends banking hours to 1pm for two days

Bangladesh Bank has extended timeline for consumer banking hours to 1 pm for two days, almost half an hour more than present amid concern over all-out lockdown from April 14.

Following the circular letter-11, the banking hours have fixed from 10 am to 1 pm for April 12 and 13, read the letter send to chief executive of all commercial banks on Sunday.

 “The central bank authorities are waiting for government’s decision on upcoming lockdown,” Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Sirajul Islam told the daily sun.

The bank can operate office hour up to 3 pm on-demand, according to the latest directives.

Earlier on April 4, the central bank capped the timeline of bank outlets from 10 am to 12.30 pm in the line with government decision on restriction to public movement.
