Ismail leaves for Iran

The country’s fastest man Md Ismail, along with a four-member athletics team, left Dhaka on Friday for Iran to compete in the International Athletic Imam Reza Cup Tournament, scheduled to be held on April 11 and 12 in Iranian city in Mashhad.

A total of 12 nations are expected to take part in the first edition of the meet, which is a qualification event for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Ismail, who became the fastest man securing gold in 100m sprint of Bangladesh Games, will take part in 100m and long jump there.

Among the Navy’s other two athletes, Mahfuzul Rahman will compete in the high jump and Md Al Amin in the long jump.

Navy’s another athlete Zahir Raihan was also expected to take part in the meet there, but he was reported COVID-19 positive.
