BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said around 5,000 leaders and activists of his party across the country including Dhaka have already been infected with the deadly coronavirus while many of them died of the virus infection.
“Over 400 leaders and activists of BNP have died of coronavirus infection across the country while around 5,000 have been infected with the virus. It is the information of 2-3 days back. We are collecting data regarding this from thana and union level,” he said.The BNP leader came up with the statement while addressing a press briefing virtually from his Uttara residence on Friday.
“Many of our leaders including party standing committee member Moudud Ahmed, vice-chairman Ruhul Alam Chowdhury and member of BNP’s foreign affairs sub-committee Khandaker Ahad Ahmed died of the virus infection. Our senior leaders Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Selima Rahman, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi have been infected with the virus and undergoing treatment,” he added.
Mentioning that, the Covid-19 pandemic has turned into dangerous across the country. In this situation, the BNP secretary general called for national consensus to tackle this.
