Body formed to distribute Mar 19, ’71 Award

A seven-member committee has been formed for distribution of ‘March 19, ’71 Award’ on behalf of the National Committee for Celebration of Golden Jubilee of the First Armed Resistance Day on  March 19.

The committee will be headed by heroic freedom fighter Azizul Islam, the president of the Bangladesh Journalists’ Rights Forum (BJRF), also the editor of Bangladesh News and Bangladesher Khabor, as its chairperson, says a press release.

Other members of the committee are: Shamsun Nahar Bhuiyan, MP, Jatiya Press Club president Farida Yasmin, Gazipur Officers’ Forum-Dhaka vice-president Azharul Haque, Bangladesh Jatiya Shramik Federation president Shamim Ara, Dhaka Sangabadik Paribar Bahumukhi Samabaey Samity president Mohammad Al-Mamun, Gazipur Press Clun president Prof Md Amzad Hossain. Prof Dr Hafiza Khatun, convener of the National Committee for Celebration of Golden Jubilee of the First Armed Resistance Day on March 19 and its chief coordinator Ataur Rahman will assist the committee.

The award-giving ceremony will be held by strictly following the health guidelines during last part of the ongoing month of April. 

It is to be mentioned that the glorious tale of the First Armed Resistance Battle on March 19 at Joydebpur (now Gazipur), inhabited by Shaheed Tajuddin, Shaheed Moyez Uddin and Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master, is now a part of the national history of Bangladesh, adds the press release.
