Sonali Bank launches whistle blowers ombudsman activities

Sonali Bank Limited launched the ombudsman’s activities with the aim of ensuring transparency and accountability in all the bank’s actions.

Sonali Bank Chairman Ziaul Hasan Siddiqui inaugurated the activities of the Ombudsman through video conference on Sunday, said a press release.

Whistleblowing refers to providing accurate and informative reports to the appropriate authorities on misconduct, corruption, fraud, embezzlement, fraud and others illegal activities within the bank.

Sonali Bank Audit Committee Chairman AKM Kamrul Islam has been appointed as the Whistle Blowers Ombudsman.

He joined the Board of Directors of Sonali Bank Limited in 2016 and was re-appointed in 2020.

He served as the acting chairman of both Sonali and Janata Bank while being a member of the board of directors.

Earlier, this Whistleblowing Policy-2021 was approved by the board of directors of the bank on January 11, 2021.

This policy guarantees the protection of the complainant or the informant.

The chief whistleblower ombudsman of the reporting authority and two executives at the level of Chief Audit Officer and General Manager will be members of the reporting authority considering the level of importance and sensitivity.
