Five killed in road crashes

At least five people, including a man and his daughter, were killed in two separate road accidents in Pabna, Moulvibazar and Chattogram on Friday.

In Pabna, a man and his daughter were killed and his wife was injured when a sand-laden truck hit his motorbike at Tarabaria in Sujanagar upazila.

The victims were identified as Md Alamgir Hossain, 36, of village Char Ashutoshpur in Pabna Sadar upazila and his daughter Sinha, 6, while the injured is Nasrin Akter, 30.

Angry people set fire to the truck after the incident.

Later, police rushed to the spot and seized the truck but its driver managed to flee the scene.

"Nasrin was taken to Sujanagar Upazila Health Complex and was later shifted to Pabna General Hospital for treatment," said the OC.

In Moulvibazar, two bikers were killed when a bus collided head-on with a motorcycle in the Mathiura Tea Garden area of Rajnagar upazila.

The deceased were identified as Sujan Karmakar and Rajan Roy.

Another Dipen Das was injured critically in the incident. The victims were from Rajnagar upazila.

Quoting locals, police said a motorcycle collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound Mitali Paribahan on Moulvibazar-Kulaura road in Mathiura Tea Garden area at around 12:00pm on Friday, leaving Sujan dead on the spot.

Two more bikers were rushed to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital where on duty doctor declared Rajan dead.

In Chattogram, a worker was killed in a road accident in the city’s Saultgola area.

The deceased was identified as Md Tuhin, 26, worker of AR Engineering Works in Agrabad area.

Sources said an unidentified vehicle hit Tuhin while he was going to workstation by bicycle in Saultgola Crossing intersection around 10:00am.

The accident left him seriously injured.

Later, he was rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead, said ASI Alauddin Talukder of the hospital police outpost.
