Ban on tourism in Sundarbans

In the wake of second wave of coronavirus in the country, the forest department has decided to bar the visitors from entering Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest of the world.

The restrictions will continue till April 15 starting from Friday.

Satkhira Range’s Burigoalini Station Officer in Sundarbans Sultan Ahmed said they took the decision in line with the government’s decision of closure of all tourist spots and recreation centres.

The forest department didn’t provide pass to any boat or water vassal for entering the Sundarbans on Friday and imposed a ban on water vassal movement in the area till April 15, he said adding that the tourists were requested not to prepare any tour plan centring Sundarbans.
