The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock on Friday announced closure of Dhaka National Zoo and Rangpur Zoo to contain the second wave of the deadly coronavirus.

In an official notification, the ministry said the zoos in Dhaka and Rangpur will remain closed for visitors until further notice.

Earlier on Wednesday, the zoo in Chattogram was declared closed as part of the district administration’s move to close all entertainment hubs and tourist spots.

The government declared the closure of all entertainment centres, tourist spots, and zoos for the visitors in the last week for fourteen days.

After a nearly seven-month shutdown, the National Zoo in the capital’s Mirpur area reopened on November 1, 2020, but a fresh surge in coronavirus cases has made the authorities to shut it down again.
