The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police has arrested three members of an inter-district robbery gang who have been involved in at least a dozen robbery incidents in Keraniganj, Dohar and Nawabganj in the last two months.

They trio -- Rubel Farazi alias Rifat Howlader, 28, Sohag Sheikh alias Rubel, 23, and Mohammad Sohel, 24, -- was nabbed from Khilgaon and Shahjahanpur in the capital on Wednesday night.

Mohammad Imam Hossain, additional deputy inspector general of the CID, disclosed the information to journalists at the CID headquarters on Thursday.

He said they committed robberies wearing shorts, T-shirts and masks. They broke into the houses by cutting away window grills. The arrest followed a robbery case which was filed at Keraniganj Model Police Station on March 5 this year, he said.

According to the officer, they had been committing robberies at luxurious flats and houses since 2014.

The gang members earlier committed robberies in Khulna, Jashore, Nilphamari and Rangpur. As they were indicted in several cases there, they moved to Dhaka and began to commit crimes.
