Admission test for MBBS course in the country’s government and private medical colleges for the academic year 2020-21 will be held today, following health guideline amid the covid-19 pandemic.
Over 122,0000 candidates will sit for the medical admission test for the academic year across the country. The test will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am.The number of examinees of the MBBS admission test has doubled this year. The number of examinees was 72,000 last year while the number this year is 1, 22,874.
The test will be held at 55 venues of 19 centres. Of them, 47,000 candidates will sit for the exam across 15 centres in Dhaka.
Earlier, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Zahid Maleque said “Special surveillance will be arranged
to maintain the health guidelines of guardians who will remain waiting outside the admission test centres.”
The photocopier machines, coaching centres will remain closed and other activities outside the centres will remain under surveillance, said the minister.
Examinees will sit three-feet away from each other. They have to wear face masks. Sanitizers will be kept at the examination centres, he said.Monitoring cell will be set up there. Magistrates will monitor everything at the examination centres, he also said. However, the health minister reassured that question papers will not be leaked this year.
Health ministry sources said the number of seats in 47 government medical colleges of the country is 4,350 this year. Another 8,340 students will get admitted in 70 private medical colleges.
The health ministry sources said the admission test for BDS courses of dental colleges and units is also scheduled to be held on April 30.
