Detectives arrested an alleged fraudster on charges of deceiving people out of money in the name of giving them jobs in the Bangladesh Army.

The conman, Sultan Ahmmed, 59, was nabbed from Paikpara area of Mirpur around 10:15 pm on Monday, according to detectives.

Azharul Islam Mukul, additional deputy commissioner of Detective Branch (DMP) of Police (Wari), said a victim lodged a case with Darussalam Police Station alleging that he was swindled out of Tk 400,000.

Sultan promised him a job as a clerk in the army and also gave him a fake appointment letter by forging signatures of the higher authorities in the army.

“However, when he went to start the job, he realized that he had become a victim of fraud. We’ve got two more such victims,” the ADC said, adding that they need to interrogate Sultan for further information.
