The government extended again the ongoing closure of all primary schools and kindergartens of the country till May 22 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on Sunday issued a letter signed by its deputy secretary Nazma Sheikh in this regard.The ministry in the letter asked the authorities of all government and private primary schools and kindergartens to keep students at home during the closure and continue online education activities.
It also said that the students have to abide by the health guidelines and regulations
issued by the Ministry of Health and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
However, the parents will have to give their children safe accommodation and the local administration will monitor it closely, it added.
It further said the head teachers of the schools concerned will ensure that their respective students are studying their textbooks at their place of residence, through the parents.
Earlier, the education ministry on March 25 took a decision to reopen all the secondary level schools and colleges across the country on May 23, considering the recent surge in Covid-19 cases and fatalities.In the face of the Covid-19 outbreak in the country, the government shut all educational institutions on March 17 last year to contain mass infection. Later, the closures were extended in many phases.
