A laundry shop owner was killed at his residence in Mugda of the capital on Friday night.

The victim was identified as Joj Mia alias Al Amin, 25, who hails from Anwara village at Bajitpur upazila in Kishoreganj.

It is suspected that employee of the shop Jubayer and his elder brother Shakil Ahmed killed Al Amin over previous enmity around 11:45pm.

Police arrested the alleged killers on that night and a case was filed against them with Mugda Police Station.

Soyeb Khan, sub-inspector of the police station, told the Daily Sun that the killers and the victim were the inhabitants of the same area of Kishoreganj.

“Joj had previous enmity with Shakil. But Jubayer did not know it. He was working in the victim’s laundry shop on Mugda Biswa Road,” he said.

“A few days ago, Joj rebuked Jubayer for the shop-related matter. After that, Jubayer informed his

elder brother of the matter. Finally, two brothers planned to kill Joj,” he said.

The accused entered Joj’s residence No. 124/A at Sardar Lane in North  Mugda around 11:45pm, said the SI.

According to the police officer, Joj’s wife Kalpana and younger brother Hossain entered a toilet in fear and began to shout for help. At that time, Shakil and Jubayer slit Joj’s throat and were trying to leave the scene.

But neighbours rushed to the spot, caught the killers, and later handed over them to police. On information, police reached the spot, recovered the body and arrested the two brothers, he said.
