Missions abroad mark Independence Day

Bangladesh missions abroad celebrated the golden jubilee of Independence of Bangladesh with the highest level of solemnity and festivity.

In Washington DC, Ambassador to the United States M Shahidul Islam, along with the Guest of Honour, State Department’s Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs, Ervin Massinga, officially hoisted the national flag of Bangladesh and placed a floral wreath at the bust of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

In Beijing, Ambassador Mahbub-Uz-Zaman, in his speech, paid glowing tribute to the contribution of the Father of the Nation. The ambassador highlighted the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs of the War and the valiant freedom fighters.

In Ottawa, Bangladesh High Commissioner Dr Khalilur Rahman hoisted the national flag. The deputy high commissioner along with all officials of the high commission was present.

Besides, Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations, Bangladesh High Commissions in London, Delhi and Colombo; Bangladesh Embassies in Athens, Addis Ababa, Paris, Copenhagen, Rome, Islamabad, Riyadh, Cairo, Muscat and Tokyo; Consulate Generals of Bangladesh in New York and Kunming; and Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Mumbai celebrates the day with due respect and enthusiasm.
