Uttara Motors to build car mfg plant at BSMSN

Uttara Motors has leased 50 acre of land at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar (BSMSN) to build a local plant to assemble and manufacture Suzuki brand cars in Bangladesh.

The leading automobile group of the country signed an agreement with Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) on Wednesday over leasing 50-acre land plot in the country’s biggest economic zone in Chattogram.

Uttara Motors Chairman and Managing Director Matiur Rahman and BEZA General Manager Md Moniruzzaman signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.

BEZA Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury was also present at the signing ceremony held at BEZA office in the city.

Sources said that Uttara Motors will invest around $33.63 million to build new assemble and manufacturing plant of Suzuki.

Suzuki Motors is a leading Japanese automobile company, which has a global presence with a tremendous track record of manufacturing partnership with local firms.
