DNCRP fines 123 businesses Tk 11.61 lakh

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP), in separate drives, on Tuesday fined 123 businesses Tk 11.61 lakh across the country for breaching consumer law, said a press release on Wednesday.

During the drives, the directorate fined the businesses on various allegations including food adulteration, processing food in unhygienic condition, selling counterfeit products, tempering weight and not mentioning retail price of product.

DRCRP conducted the drives in Dhaka Metropolitan area, Chattogram Metropolitan area, Kishoreganj, Narsingdi, Tangail, Gazipur, Shariatpur, Rajbari, Manikganj, Sherpur, Gopalganj, Faridpur, Cumilla, Lakshmipur, Feni, Pirojpur, Bogura, Bhola, Jhalakathi, Sylhet, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Maulvibazar, Bagerhat, Jhenaidah, Jashore, Rangpur, Thakurgaon, Lalmonirhat, Rajshahi, Natore, Bogura, Pabna, Sirajganj, Chapainawabganj and Naogaon.

In Dhaka, Deputy Director of DNCRP headquarters Bikash Chandra Das, Assistant Directors Rojabi Nahar Rojoni and Pranab Kumar Pramanik , assistant directors of Dhaka Divisional office Mahmuda Akter and assistant director of Dhaka District office Abdul Jabbar Mondal conducted the drive.
