Maklubur Rahman was a good trainer at the much-talked-about Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) company ‘Destiny-2000 Ltd’ and motivated many people to join it.

After the closure of the company, Maklub did various jobs, but could not give up his old habit.

With the help of some people, he set up an MLM company ‘Qworld Marketing Ltd’ in 2019 and swindled 12,000 people out of Tk 13 crore within a short time.

Dhaka Metro East of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police busted the company at East Rampura in the capital and arrested Maklub, 40, and two others – Golam Minhaz Uddin, 62, and Asaduzzaman Dulal Mandal, 40, on Tuesday.

Sheikh Omar Faruque, additional deputy inspector general (Dhaka Metro) of the CID, disclosed the information to journalists at the CID headquarters in the city on Wednesday.

Maklub was the managing director of Qworld Marketing Ltd while Minhaz Uddin was the chairman and Dulal Mandal director.

The officer said that one had to spend Tk 1,500-4,000 to join the company. Police said some retired and incumbent army men were the victims of the company.

A case was filed against the three at Rampura Police Station.

Special Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the CID’s Dhaka Metro East Unit Kaniz Fatema was present during the briefing.
