Editors’ Council shocked at Janakantha editor’s death

The Editors’ Council on Monday expressed deep shock at the death of Daily Janakantha Editor Atiqullah Khan Masud.

 In a message of condolence, council President Mahfuz Anam and General Secretary Naem Nizam prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

 Atiqullah Khan Masud, also a freedom fighter, passed away at a city hospital early Monday at the age of 71 after suffering from respiratory problems for long.

He left behind wife, two sons and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

Janakantha was first published in 1993 with Atiqullah Khan Masud as its editor. The newspaper was the first to be printed simultaneously from multiple locations in the country.
