Pepsodent Bangladesh along with FDI World Dental Foundation and Bangladesh Dental Society (BDS) organised an online event titled ‘Brushathon’ marking the World Oral Health Day on Saturday.

A total of 2000 children took part at the online event from all over the country, said a press release.

Every year Pepsodent, the trusted oral care brand of Unilever Bangladesh, has been celebrating World Oral Health Day by creating awareness and healthy habits amongst Bangladeshi citizens about dental health care through various programmes and events like largest certified dentist gathering, awareness rallies, communication campaigns, free dental camps and school awareness programmes.

This year, due to the ongoing pandemic, Pepsodent is celebrating World Oral Heath Day 2021 through online platform.

Pepsodent Bangladesh along with FDI World Dental Foundation and Bangladesh Dental Society (BDS) have  also organised a month-long  online campaign called ‘BrushWithMe’, started on March 15 and scheduled to end on April 15.

‘BrushWithMe’ campaign is featuring various celebrities sharing fun brushing moments with their children through pictures, videos and experiences.

Tooth decay is world’s one of the most widespread disease: at least 3 out of 5 children suffer from dental cavities, and toothache is one of the main reason for children to miss school. The easiest way to defeat tooth decay is by brushing twice a day. It has been demonstrated that brushing day and night with a fluoride toothpaste can reduce tooth decay by up to 50 per cent.

A global survey commissioned for World Oral Health Day suggests that 30 per cent people of Bangladesh are not brushing their teeth properly, twice a day.

Earlier in 2018, 78 per cent parents and 82 per cent children were brushing twice a day, while in 2020 those numbers have gone down to 74 per cent and 73 per cent respectively.
