The foot-bridge was opened in September in 2019 but the authorities closed down the bridge within a week of opening it to public.DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam promised to build a footbridge on the spot where Abrar Ahmed, a student of BUP, died under a speedy bus on March 19 in 2019.
DNCC mayor reopened the footbridge after retrofitting and installation of escalator. Friends of Abrar attend the reopening programme.
Speaking on the occasion Mayor Atiqul said, “Due to Covid-19, we could not import escalator from abroad. Besides, we have redesigned the footbridge through Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB).”
