Sammilita Parishad pledges to make vibrant RMG sector

Sammilita Parishad, a panel for the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) election, has pledged to advocate for extending loan repayment period from the existing 18 months.

The panel leader, Faruque Hassan, also the senior vice-president of incumbent committee, unveiled the election manifesto for upcoming BGMEA Election at Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka on Tuesday. Emphasising on long –term planning, Faruque, also managing director of Giant Group, said the new leadership will advocate on increasing incentive from 4 to 5 percent on export.

He said the expected executive committee from the panel will organise road shows in abroad -- South Korea, Japan, Russia, Latin America, India and other potential territories to create new markets for Bangladeshi products.

“A coordination committee comprising BGMEA and Customs Department will be formed to solve duty related problems of apparel sector on regular basis,” Faruque added.

The leader also promised to develop the SME sector by extending annual export ceiling from $5 million to $10 million.

Faruque Hassan said the new leadership from the panel will dedicate themselves to solve the ‘present image crises’ of Bangladesh.

Among others, Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, MP and Abdus Salam Murshedy, MP and BGMEA former President Siddiqur Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
