PK Halder’s ‘girl friend’, two others arrested

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday arrested three more accomplices of NRB Global Bank’s former Managing Director Proshanta Kumar Halder, better know as PK Halder, in a corruption case.

The three arrestees are International Leasing and Financial Services Limited (ILFSL) former acting Managing Director Syed Abed Hasan, its vice-president Nahida Runai and senior manager Rafsan Riad Chowdhury. A team of the anti-graft body led by its Deputy Director Gulshan Anwar Pradhan arrested the three aides of PK Halder from the capital’s Motijheel area, said ACC Director (media) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.

Earlier on January 24, the ACC filed a case against 24 people including PK Halder on charges of embezzling Tk 70.82 crore and laundering the money.

According to the case, the accused in collusion with each other took out a loan of Tk 70.82 in the name of fake ‘Anan Chemical Ltd’ from International Leasing and Financial Services Limited (ILFSL) through forgery and using fake documents.
