House help found dead

Police recovered the body of a female house help from her employer’s house at Paltan in the capital on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Lipi Begum, 33, an inhabitant of Sandwip upazila in Chattogram. She worked at the residence of Joint Director of Bangladesh Bank Shah Newaz.

Abdul Jalil, sub-inspector of Paltan Model Police Station, told the Daily Sun that Lipi joined the banker’s residence as house help about five months ago.

On Saturday night, Lipi quarreled with her family members over phone, he said.

She went to a bathroom in the morning, but did not come out, the SI said adding that the members of the banker family called neighbours as      

Lipi did not come out of the bathroom despite knocking at the door repeatedly.

Later, neighbours and caretakers of the house broke the door and found her hanging from a cloth keeping stand, the SI added.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. The reason of her death could be known after getting autopsy report, he said.
