Two held with firearms, ammo in Noakhali

NOAKHALI: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained two men with huge quantity of firearms and ammo from Hatia upazila of the district. They also recovered Taka 11.35 lakh from their possessions.

Hatia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Khayer confirmed the news on Saturday morning. The detainees are-- Md Khokon Prakash alias Khokon Dakat (43), of Ramgati upazila in Lakshmipur District and Md Liton, from same area, the OC said.

Quoting Ahsanul Haque, DMD of Feni camp under RAB-7, OC Khayer informed that acting on tip off, a team of RAB-7 conducted a drive at Abdur Rahim’s house in No. 1 Harini Chargasia Moulavir char area of the upazila on early Friday and recovered firearms, ammo and Taka in cash.

The RAB team seized a foreign pistol with 6-round loaded magazine, a homemade LG, a home-made 303 rifle-like LG, a homemade SBBL, a tri-quarter homemade LG, Two homemade LGs, 22 fresh cartridges and Taka 11.35 lakh in cash inside a laptop bag.

RAB handed over the detainees to Hatia Police Station and filed a case against them under the Arms Act, the OC added.
