CHATTOGRAM: A housewife was strangled to death allegedly by her husband over family feud in the city’s Akbar Shah area early on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Rima Akter, 26, wife of Tajul Islam, of Biswa Colony under the Akbar Shah police station. Officer in-Charge (OC) Jahir Hossain of the police station said Tajul, an employee of a tea stall, and his wife Rima rented a house at G-Block in the Biswa Colony area around one month back.

They were often locked in altercation over family matters. The neighbours also heard them arguing around 12:00 midnight, said the OC.

Later, neighbours found the body of Rima lying on bed around 12:30 am and informed the police, he said.

Husband Tajul remained absconding since the incident, said OC Jahir. Tajul might have strangled Rima and left the house, he suspected.

The body was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
