Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Saturday said that they could bring the mosquito menace under complete control within a week.

The mayor came up with the remarks after paying homage at the grave of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj.

Taposh said, “None was diagnosed as dengue fever in the DSCC area this year as we could destroy dengue mosquitoes. Besides, the residents under the DSCC could sleep without mosquito curtains from July to December last year.”

In response to a question how he would address the upcoming waterlogging problem, he said, “We have already taken control of the canals from the WASA in the DSCC area. We have freed the canals from illegal grabbers and removed two lakh metric tonnes of waste from the canals in the last two months. We have made a master plan by which we can solve the waterlogging problems.”

Senior officers and councillors of the DSCC accompanied the mayor.
