The government has opened registration process for the Covid-19 vaccine on www.surokkha.gov.bd for teachers and staffs of public and private educational institutions under the age of 40.

The teachers and staffs are being included in a database for vaccination efforts, said a directive signed by Education Ministry’s additional secretary Mominur Rashid Amin on Thursday.

It said the NID information of teachers as well as other employees of public and private educational institutions (schools and colleges) has been uploaded to the Surokkha website by including the educational institutions category.

There are separate sub-categories for teachers and other employees, according to the directive.

The Directorate of secondary and higher education (DSHE) and Boards of Education have been asked to take necessary steps to ensure immediate vaccination of all teachers and employees.

The officials of DGHS said the government directed them to inoculate teachers of educational institutions on a priority basis and they have already received data of over 900,000 teachers from education ministry.

The government, however, is yet to decide on when and how to start administering Covid-19 vaccines to students at universities and colleges.
