Nearly 56 lakh register for vaccine so far

A total of 55,74,638 people have registered for Covid-19 vaccine across the country so far since the vaccination campaign started on January 27 this year.

As of Saturday, as many as 55,74,638 people have registered online for Covid-19 vaccine, according to the sources of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS),

As of March 11, the number of vaccine receivers was 42,18,127. Of the total vaccine recipients, 26,88,462 were  males and 15,29,665 were female. A total of 881 vaccine recipients have so far reported side effects, the DGHS said.           

The vaccination drive was conducted at 50 hospitals in Dhaka city and 1,005 hospitals outside the capital. Some 31,160 people received the first dose of the vaccine on February 7 when the nationwide vaccination began.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the vaccination programme virtually on January 27 when 26 front-liner fighters received Covishield vaccine in Kurmitola General Hospital. Some 541 more received the vaccine in five hospitals in Dhaka the following day.  

The age limit for registration for vaccination is now 40 years and it will continue for the time being.

The front line fighters including healthcare providers of the country and general people under the age of 40 now can register online for the vaccine.
