Free treatment for extreme poor

Bashundhara Eye Hospital has a very special quality as it provides same type of treatment to the poor within low budget and the rich at affordable cost.

It is considered as an example for any eye hospital in the country.

People from all walks of life, irrespective of religion, race and custom, can receive treatment from the hospital. Besides, there is Shariah-based Jakat fund and specialised funding platform for patients from other religions.

Poor patients are given modern and high quality treatment as well as free medicine and spectacles. Medical investigations and operations are carried out at the hospital.

Besides, the hospital provides services to the poor at low cost and the rich at relatively high cost. However, the quality of all services is the same. There is no difference between the poor and rich patients.

The hospital has run 30 free eye camps during 2014 to March 2020. During these eye camps, around 10,500 patients have been served of which 850 got lenses after cataract operations. Besides, 5,550 patients got free medicine and 2,900 got glasses.

Besides, the hospital has served 9,150 patients free of cost on its campus in Bashundhara residential area. Of them, 1,479 received cataract operations and 1,575 got free glasses and it is considered as a significant matter, according to the officials.

Bashundhara Eye Hospital (BEH) has served 1,09,994 patients at lower and affordable budget since it commenced journey in 2014.  Of the served patients, 1,635 got stitch-free operations and 2,647 received cataract operations in total.

Expert physicians have conducted 180 multifocal lenses, trifocal and 8 multifocal lenses surgeries. And the vitreo-retinal surgery is performed at much lower cost. Besides, the results of Advanced Diabetic Eye Disease Retinal Detachment and Macular Hole Surgery are extremely promising. The hospital is also far ahead in the treatment of water retention in the retina of the eye.

BEH doctors have successfully served 650 patients with different Anti–vascular endothelial growth factor therapies.
