CDA demolishes illegal part of USTC bldg

CHATTOGRAM: Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday started eviction drive to demolish a portion of an 18-stotrey faculty building of University of Science and Technology, Chittagong (USTC) in the city.

CDA Special Magistrate Saiful Alam led the drive started at around 10:00am to demolish illegal part of the Science, Engineering and Technology faculty building of the university.

CDA Waterlogging Addressing Project Director (PD) and Executive Engineer Ahmed Mainuddin said they started the drive to demolish the part of the building developed occupying the ‘Gaynar Chhara Khal’ in the area.

 The university authority took approval for constructing 16-storey building from the CDA. But, they constructed the 18-storey building encroaching 3,500 square-feet area of the canal, he said.
