Awareness campaign on TB launched

A year-long awareness raising campaign on tuberculosis (TB) was launched at a city hotel on Tuesday, marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said a press release.

The Civil Surgeons and Divisional Directors under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare across the country jointly participated in the programme.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in collaboration with National TB Control Program (NTP) will raise awareness among Bangladeshis, especially vulnerable communities, to better detect and treat TB over the next year.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurated at the event while USAID Office Director for Health, Population, Nutrition and Education Xerses Sidhwa was present.

Lawmaker  Aroma Dutta, Health Secretaries, Directorate General of Health Services, USAID representatives, among others, were present.
