Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has said the people of Bangladesh want to see the party in power.

“The country and its people want to be saved from the hand of two major political parties- Awami League and BNP. They want to see the Jatiya Party in state power for changing their fate,” he said.

The Jatiya Party chief came up with the statements while addressing a meeting with the party’s vice- chairmen and advisers at the party’s Banani office in the capital on Wednesday.

GM Quader alleged that the ruling Awami League and opposition BNP have established dictatorship in the country in the name of parliamentary democracy through amending the constitution.

“Those who are in power, they are carrying out terror, extortion, politicisation and manipulation. Several thousands of crore taka have been siphoning off abroad.

There is no law against the ruling party men but only against opposition,” he said.

Quader said the party is not connected with any alliance now but playing it’s role as opposition party after the last general election.

Addressing the meeting, the party secretary general Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu alleged that the electoral system has been destroyed as the incumbent government has polluted the constitutional institutions.

Besides, he also demanded amendment of the Digital Security Act as freedom of mass media has been curtailed by enacting the law.
