The High Court has refused to grant bail to Mohsin Talukdar in a case filed for issuing a death threat to ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

The HC bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Justice Md Badruzzaman passed the order on Tuesday after hearing a bail petition.

The HC, however, issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain within four weeks as to why the accused shall not be granted bail.

Deputy Attorney General Dr Md Bashir Ullah said the accused cannot be

released unless his bail is granted and the rule has nothing to do with the release.

On November 15 last, Mohsin, 25, son of Azad Box Talukdar of Talukderpara in Sylhet Sadar upazila, threatened to kill Shakib for inaugurating a puja programme in Kolkata. In a Facebook Live from his personal account, he threatened to hack the all-rounder to death, saying he would come to Dhaka on foot to get his mission completed if necessary.

The following day, Mohsin, however, apologised for issuing the death threat in another Facebook Live.

Police filed a case against the youth with Kotwali Police Station on November 16 and members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested him the following day.
