Corona deaths, cases rise again

The number of death and infection cases rose again during the last 24 hours till Monday morning. Fourteen more died and 845 cases were detected during the time. The death toll rose to 8,476.

The coronavirus cases has crossed 5.51 lakh across the country including in Dhaka as the highest number of corona cases have been detected after 54 days in the last 24 hours till Monday morning.

According to Direc-torate General of Health Services (DGHS), 845 new cases were detected in the country in the last 24 hours till 8:00am Monday, raising the total number to 5,51,175.     

Some 1,117 more patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number to 5,04,120 in the country till the day.

The DGHS data said the coronavirus death rate has stood at 1.54 percent. On the other hand, the recovery rate also has reached 91.46 percent, it added.

The health directorate said 13.24 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus

till the date while 4.98 percent samples have been diagnosed with the fatal disease in a day.

A total of 16,660 samples, out of 16,958 collected, were tested at 219 labs in the country during the period, the report added.

A total of 41,63,163 samples have been tested so far to detect coronavirus infection across the country.

The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 while the first death was recorded on March 18 in the country.
