Bangladesh Football Federation senior Vice President Abdus Salam Murshedy on Sunday claimed that his failure in Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited elections is a blessing in disguise for him as he has big roles to play in several other important organizations.
The former national footballer and Khulna-4 MP Murshedy, who was the former president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, brought the arguments in his favour after his defeat in the MSC election held on Saturday. The director candidate Murshedy could get 141 votes while his nearest two candidates Jamal Rana and Hanif Bhuiyan bagged 144 each in the election.
“I play various important roles in BFF and BGMEA. I work in two subcommittees of BFF. Besides, I’m now playing the role of convener for conducting BGMEA elections. I’m also involved with Premier Bank and Bangladesh University of Fashion and Technology,” he said.
“Apart from these, I've to pay attention to my constituency. In this circumstance, I won't be able to work properly with the MSC governing body,” he added.
Murshedy however tendered his full support to the new committee and was hopeful that they would bring back their lost glory.
“As a former player of Mohammedan, I will support my club. I also welcome the newly elected governing body. Hopefully, the committee will regain the lost glory of the club.
“I’m happy with the result. Even, I'm happy that I’ve conceded defeat in the election,” he concluded.
