Three Huji militants held in city

Members of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested three members of outlawed militant outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami (Huji), including its chief coordinator, during a swoop in the capital’s Sayedabad area on Thursday night.

The arrestees are – Huji chief coordinator Mainul Islam alias Mahin alias Mithu alias Hasan, Sheikh Sohan Swad alias Bara Abdullah and Murad Hossain Kabir.

A private car, five mobile phones, one microphone, one sharp weapon, two daggers, 10 detonators, one scotch tape, five litres of acid, three ID cards and a book were seized from them.

During preliminary interrogation, they said they are active members of Huji, police said.
