Shana finishes third in recurve final

The country’s premier archer Ruman Shana of Ansar could earn only a bronze in the men's recurve singles of the ongoing Bangabandhu 12th Teer National Archery Championships at the Sheikh Kamal International Stadium in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday.

Shana beat Ashikur Rahman of Dhaka Army Archery Club by 6-4 set points in the place-deciding match.

Shana, who ranked 6th out of 69 scoring 644 in the qualification round, conceded a 5-6 defeat to Hakim Ahmed Rubel of Police Archery Club in the day’s semifinals.

Hakim Rubel will face Abdur Rahman Alif of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan in the final match on Thursday at the same venue.

In the day’s other place deciders, Diya Siddeki of BKSP earned bronze beating Ety Khatun of Police by 6-0 set points in women’s recurve singles.

Ashikuzzaman of Police collected bronze beating his teammate Ashim Kumar Das by 144-142 scores in men’s compound singles and Ritu Akter of Police beat Bonna Akther of Ansar by 136-135 scores in women's compound singles.

In the team events, Police comprising, Al Amin, Hakim Rubel and Tamimul Islam secured bronze beating Ansar comprising Shana, Sakib Molla and Emdadul Haque Milon by 6-2 set points in men’s recurve team.

Police, comprising Beauty Ray, Ety and Radiya Akter Shapla secured bronze beating Ansar comprising Afruza Akter Sathi, Chadni Akter and Najmin Khatun by 5-4 set points in the women’s recurve team.

BKSP, comprising Abdullah Al-Sohab, Himu Bachhar and Asif Mahmud Bappy earned bronze beating Ansar comprising Aishwarzo Rahman Titas, Milon Mollah and Shah Alomgir by 222-218 scores in the men’s compound team.

Ansar, comprising Bonna, Lamiya Islam and Suma Biswas bagged bronze beating Aspts Archery Club comprising Jhorna Khatun, Juthi Islam and Mitu by 222-215 scores in women’s compound team.
