5 more die, 614 cases detected

Five more coronavirus infected patients died and 614 new cases were detected in the country during the 24 hours till Wednesday morning. The death toll rose to 8,428.

The number of daily coronavirus death has declined while the number of recovery has increased in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 614 new cases were detected in the country in the last 24 hours till 8:00am Wednesday, raising the total number to 5,47,930.     

Some 936 more patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number to 4,99,627 in the country till the day. The DGHS data said the coronavirus death rate has stood at 1.54 percent. On the other hand, the recovery rate also has reached 91.18 percent, it added.

The health directorate said 13.40 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus till the date while 3.74 percent samples have been diagnosed with the fatal disease in a day.

A total of 16,458 samples, out of 16,414 collected, were tested at 217 labs in the country during the period, the report added.

A total of 40,89,336 samples have been tested so far to detect coronavirus infection across the country.

The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 while the first death was recorded on March 18 in the country.
