2 pvt health centres sealed off in Khulna

KHULNA: Two private health centres in Rupsha Upazila of the district have been sealed off by the authorities concerned on allegations of various irregularities.

On Monday, a team of the health department led by Civil Surgeon of Khulna Dr Niaz Mohammad and Dr Md Saidul Islam sealed off the two health centers – a clinic and a diagnostic center.

The two establishments are Nasir Uddin Memorial Hospital and Nova Hospital and Diagnostic Center in Jabusha Hatkhola area under Rupsha Upazila.

Civil Surgeon said they found inadequate number of physicians and nurses, no valid approval, and unhygienic environment in both the health centres.

On the spot inspection, it was seen that fish, meat and other household items have been kept in the refrigerators of the two health centres instead of life-saving medicine, diagnostic equipments. On the other hand, Nova Hospital and Diagnostic Center, has been operating for a long time without any trained lab physicians, pathologists and technicians.

Dr Niaz Mohammad, Civil Surgeon of Khulna said the two health centers have been running for 4/5 months without following rules and regulations.

A large number of hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres are running illegally in Khulna district.

The district administration started conducting raids on such medical facilities.
