Al Jazeera sued in US

Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera and five journalists have been sued in a US court on charges of airing a ‘false’ report ‘All the Prime Minister's Men’.

The accused are Kanak Sarwar, Ilias Hossain, Delwar Hossain, Zulkarnian Saer, David Bergman and Al Jazeera Media Network.

According to the case statement, the complainant has demanded immediate withdrawal of the video and sought $500 million in compensation for tarnishing Bangla-desh’s image.

Five persons, including Mohammad Rabbi Alam, president of the US unit of Bangabandhu Parishad, filed the case in the United States District Court of Michigan.

Rabbi Alam disclosed the information on filing the case at a press conference in Jackson Heights of New York on Monday evening.

He said he has taken initiative to handle costly cases in the interest of Bangladesh. He mentioned that some people living outside Bangladesh are engaged in propaganda against the country.

Rabbi Alam has been living in Michigan for a long time. He is associated with the politics of the Awami League. He is the founder of the Bangabandhu Commission in the United States.
