Woman, infant daughter found dead in Bogura

BOGURA: Police recovered the bodies of a woman and her infant daughter from a corn field in remote char area on the Jamuna River under Sariakandi upazila of the district on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Shefali Khatun, 21, wife of Al-Amin, hailing from Dharaborja char at Bohail union of the upazila and their six-month old daughter Ayesha.

Sariakandi Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman said Shefali Khatun along with her child went out to seek medical treatment but they did not retune home at night.

Locals found the bodies in the corn field neighboring Shangkarpur village on Sunday and informed police, who later went to the spot and recovered the bodies, he said.

Police are primarily suspecting that they were strangled to death since the woman’s neck bears some wounds while there is no injury mark on the infant’s body, OC Mizanur said.

The bodies were to hospital for autopsy, he said adding that the actual cause of death will be revealed after autopsy.
