The National Insurance Day will be celebrated in Bangladesh today (Monday) for the second time with the view to raising awareness about insurance and developing insurance industry.
The day will be observed with the theme ‘Mujib borsher angikar, bima hok shobar’ which translates to ‘Insurance for everyone, promise in Mujib Year.’Bangabandhu Shikkha Bima is going to be launched with own funding by IDRA marking the National Insurance Day on Monday.
The government has decided to celebrate the National Insurance Day every year because father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman started working at then-Alpha Insurance Company on March 1, 1960.
Marking the day, Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority of Bangladesh (IDRA), Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) and Bangladesh Insurance Forum have jointly organised a wide-range of day-long programme including webinars on insurance for expatriate workers, webinars with university students highlighting the significance of the Insurance Day, insurance posters in district and upazila cities, and others.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the event virtually from the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Dhaka. Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will preside over the event. IDRA in this regard issued a press release recently.
