The preliminary examination for the 42nd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) was held on Friday with the participation of 89 percent applicants.

The preliminary examination of the BCS was held from 3:00pm to 5:00pm only in Dhaka center, said Bangladesh Public Service Commission sources.

A total of 27,573 out of 31,026 candidates participated at the exam against 2,000 posts of physicians in the 42nd BCS while 3,453 candidates did not attend the exam.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) in November issued circulars of the 42nd and the 43rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations.

According to the circular, the 42nd BCS is special, as two thousand assistant surgeons will be recruited through it to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.

Through the general 43rd BCS, 1,814 officials will be recruited, including 300 in public administration, 100 in police, 25 in foreign service and 843 teachers.
