Corona cases recorded below 1pc in Rangpur

RANGPUR: Rangpur division recorded the below one percent daily coronavirus (Covid-19) infection rate of 0.94 percent on Wednesday for the third time during this month since outbreak of the pandemic.

“Only two Covid-19 positive cases were reported after diagnosing 213 samples in the division at the infection rate of 0.94 percent on Wednesday,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui said.

Earlier, the below one percent infection rates of 0.86 percent and 0.68 percent were recorded on February 6 and February 8 respectively in the division where the Covid-19 infection rate remains below 10 percent during the last more than two and a half months, reports BSS.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases rose to 15,830 in the division as two more positive cases were reported on Wednesday.

“The district-wise break up of total 15,830 patients stands at 4,041 in Rangpur, 794 in Panchagarh, 1,328 in Nilphamari, 964 in Lalmonirhat, 1,019 in Kurigram, 1,512 in Thakurgaon, 4,710 in Dinajpur and 1,462 in Gaibandha,” Dr  Siddiqui added.

Since the beginning, a total of 1,07,318 collected samples were tested in the division till Wednesday, and of them, 15,830 were found Covid-19 positive with an average infection rate of 14.75 percent.

At the same time, the number of recovered Covid-19 patients rose to 15,177 with the recovery of one more infected person on Wednesday raising the average recovery rate to 95.87 percent in the division.

The 15,177 recovered patients include 3,682 of Rangpur, 762 of Panchagarh, 1,299 of Nilphamari, 953 of Lalmonirhat, 980 of Kurigram, 1,469 of Thakurgaon, 4,598 of Dinajpur and 1,434 of Gaibandha districts in the division.

Talking to the agency, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Ahad Ali said the number of fatalities remained steady at 308 in the division with no more deaths reported on Wednesday.

The district-wise break up of the 308 fatalities stands at 72 in Rangpur, 111 in Dinajpur, 34 in Thakurgaon, 28 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 20 in Panchagarh, 17 in Gaibandha and 11 in Lalmonirhat districts of the division,” he said.

Among the total 15,830 Covid-19 infected patients, six are undergoing treatments at isolation units after recovery of 15,177 patients and 308 deaths while 339 remaining in home isolations across the division.

“Since February 7 last, a total of 2,46,766 citizens, including 1,61,062 males and 85,704 females, were immunised with COVID-19 vaccines in all eight districts of the division till Wednesday Dr. Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said Covid-19 vaccination continues smoothly in the division amid deckling infection rate.
