2 arrested with ‘Crystal Meth’

CHATTOGRAM: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two drug peddlers with 140 kilograms of ‘Crystal Meth,’ locally known as ‘Ice’ from Khulshi area in the city on early Thursday.

The arrestees were identified as Shafiul Alam, 34, son of Mozaffar Ahmed of Banshkhali upazila in the district, and Md Yasin Rana, 50, son of late Abul Kalam of Nangalkot upazila in Cumilla district.

Major Md Moshfiqur Rahman of Rab-7 said on receiving information, they conducted a drive in Mozaffar Nagar area under Khulshi Police Station at around 12:30am.

Sensing presence of the elite force, the duo tried to flee the scene, he said.

But, the Rab men arrested them after a chase, said Major Moshfiqur.

Later, they recovered 140 grams of Crystal Meth worth around Tk 14 lakh from them, said the officer. He also said the drug was discovered in Chattogram for the first time.
