Journo Mozakkir’s family seeks justice

NOAKHALI: The family members of slain journalist Borhanuddin Mozakkir demanded justice at a press conference at Noakhali District Press Club on Thursday.

Earlier on February 19, the journo was shot dead in a clash between two rival groups at Basurhat in Companiganj upazila of the district.

The demand came from a press conference held at Noakhali District Press Club on Thursday morning.

In the press conference, Mozakkir’s elder brother Nur Uddin read out a written statement, demanding justice for his brother’s killing.

Mozakkir was also involved in various social and humanitarian activities, he said.

Mozakkir’s father Mawlana Nurul Huda Md Nowab Ali demanded exemplary punishment to those involved in the killing of his son and sought the prime minister’s intervention in this regard.

A correspondent of Dainik Bangla Samachar and Barta Bazar Online News Portals, Mozakkir received bullet injuries during a clash between supporters of Basurhat Pourasava mayor Abdul Quader Mirza and the Upazila Awami League organising secretary Mizanur Rahman Badal at Chaprashirhat Purbo Bazar in Companiganj in the afternoon on February 19.

He succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 10:45pm on Saturday.
