Thimphu keen to import bandwidth from Dhaka

Bhutan has expressed interest in importing internet bandwidth from Bangladesh which is now witnessing surplus bandwidth.

Bhutanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Rinchen Kuentsyl has shown the interest to Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar at an online seminar on Wednesday. 

"Bangladesh is not only a tested friend of Bhutan, but also an important trading partner," Rinchen Kuentsyl.

Rinchen Kuentsyl spoke of his efforts to take the historic relationship between Bhutan and Bangladesh to a unique height in the days to come.

He lauded the continuous progress of Bangladesh, especially in the field of digital technology.

Speaking at the webinar, Mustafa Jabbar said that the geography, history, heritage and way of life of Bangladesh and Bhutan are almost the same.     

He highlighted Bangladesh's progress in the development of digital technology in the country.

The minister assured of all possible cooperation in exporting broadband internet bandwidth to Bhutan.

"We have taken initiative to reach every village in the country and we are now looking forward to exporting internet bandwidth," he added. In addition, they also discussed various issues of mutual interest, especially technical and commercial issues in the field of telecommunications and internet.
