Missing army cadet found dead in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: The divers of Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) department recovered the body of a missing trainee army cadet from the Sangu River at Anwara upazila in the district on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Asif Hossain Nishan, 21, of Mirsarai upazila in the district.

FSCD, Chattogram Deputy Director (DD) Azizul Islam said a team of new army members came to Tailardwip for a swim in the river on Monday when Asif went missing.

The deceased went there for a winter training programme of Bangladesh Army, said the DD. The members of FSCD, Bangladesh Coast Guard and Bangladesh Navy started searching for Asif immediate after he went missing, said Azizul.

The body was recovered at around 12:00pm and handed over to Bangladesh Army, he added.

Meanwhile, two drivers were arrested with foreign beers and liquors from the Customs House area in the city on Monday night.

The arrestees were identified as private car driver Mantu Chandra Das and CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Md Masud Rana.
