Local people have demanded exemplary punishment of husband of Tanzina who committed suicide after a quarrel with her husband in the capital’s Vatara area.

They made the demand in a protest procession, carrying the body of Tanzina, on the Pragati Sarani at Kuril in Vatara of the capital on Monday afternoon.

Vehicular movement in the area was suspended due to the procession.

However, the aggrieved people moved from the street as police gave assurance of taking proper action in this regard.

Vatara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moktaruzzaman

told the Daily Sun that Tanzina Ankhi, 28, and her husband Abu Talha used to lock in quarrels over family issues.

On Sunday, Tanzina allegedly committed suicide after jumping from the rooftop of their rented eight-storey building at Vatara.

On the same day, police arrested Talha following a case filed against Abu Talha and his one sister, he said.

The officer said after the Namaz-e-Janaza of Tanzina, family members, relatives and local people took to the street carrying the body.
