Five ‘robbers’ arrested in city

Police arrested five alleged robbers during raids in different parts of the capital on Friday night.

A team of Tejgaon Detective Division of police nabbed the five — Morshed alias Haddi Morshed, Jahid Sheikh, Arman Hossain, Kabir Hossain Mona and Russell.

AKM Hafiz Akhter, additional commissioner (detective) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, briefed this to journalists at the DMP media centre on Saturday.

A foreign-made revolver, 50 bullets, some gold ornaments, Tk 18 lakh in cash, and some other things were seized from them.

The officer said that the robbers were arrested following two cases filed at Hatirjheel Police Station in October and December in 2020.

The robberies were committed at two residences near Bishal Centre and Mirerbagh in Hatirjheel on October 20 and December 8 last year.

The officer said that they entered the residences after cutting grills.

They tied residents with rope at their houses and robbed them of cash and valuables.

The arrestees are also wanted for other crimes.
